Extinction is a fact of life as 99% of things that ever lived are extinct. However, as we know, the ratio and scale in which extinction is happening nowadays has been drastically increased by human activity. With that in mind, teams of scientists around the world are working with different methods on what has been excitingly called De-Extinction - the science of bringing species back from extinction. In this film for WIRED, we go on a journey to find out not only how these miracles are performed but also their ethical implications.
A huge amount of work went into researching this fascinating and inspiring subject. The Big Sky crew shot the interviews over two days with a small Covid safe crew on RED Gemini, and over zoom calls. Although making the film at the height of the pandemic had it's challenges, we had a lot of fun experimenting with animation, archive and all sorts of creative devices to bring this science-heavy subject to life. We like to think there is a more-ish watchability from beginning to end which may be attributed to Director, Bruno Chiecco's creative vision and to the dedication of our editors, one of whom suggests that, due to the intensity of the edit, his hairline may have retreated substantially - a great loss to his species.
The Big Sky won a pitch - up against some of the world's best agencies - to fully conceptualise and deliver three adverts for the global phone brand vivo - official sponsors of the UEFA European championships. From a nail-biting cliff-edge to a roller-rooftop and a Shoreditch kitchen, our story focuses on the real people and lifestyles of the vivo customer. The campaign included a europe-wide collection of films, plus a portfolio of lifestyle and product key visuals for billboards, all to be timed with the european championships. In fact if you do find yourself at the Euros, look out for our films.
Production was hairy - the main challenges were the ambitious nature of the concepts, the exceptionally quick turn around and of course shooting in a lockdown. But it was all very worth it in the end!
Up to 8 million people rely on cash daily, but access to cash is rapidly declining. Bank branches and free to use ATMs are fast disappearing across the UK every day. The Big Sky were tasked by Bold Space to make a portfolio of six films for the Post Office to help re-inspire the use of cash and to highlight it's importance in every community. Filmed from Hasting's Pier to Primrose Hill we profiled some fascinating individuals to highlight why cash is so vital to them.

We were approached by M.A.C cosmetics to produce an eclectic portfolio of videos to populate multiple screens at their Selfridges counter, Oxford Street, London. The project was rather ambitious - we needed an animation or video for everything M.A.C for every screen. Stepping up to the challenge, The Big Sky and the M.A.C team broke the world record for the amount of beauty content shot in-studio over two days.... The makeup artists and models were extraordinarily amazing, and we all met the challenge. It was an achievement to be proud of, but as far as we know, Guinness are unaware. This is our fave for it's simplicity and design - Mini M.A.C. Go in-store and take a look, but don't forget your face-mask...
